I do feel the love and care taken to the art direction, and I understand the feel the game is trying to convey. Aesthetics-wise, the game is amazing and worth experiencing just for that, from the overarching theme to the smallest of details like being able to hug each character.

The story (or stories, since it's kind of about different characters) are good but it might be an acquired taste because what happened to each character is kind of implicit. Sometimes the hints are obvious, and others are done through so many layers of metaphors that it might fly over some player's head. I don't feel like it's inheritantly good or bad but it is worth thinking about.

For example, for one character it was obvious that she's dealing with dementia (because she keeps forgetting) while for another character it was not obvious that the evil dragons you have to cleanse is related to her dealing with cancer.

Either way, the stories, characters and dialogues are great and you really get a feel of the depth of each character, and a sense of how life is just not that simple for each individual being.

Now, on to the mechanics.

To put it simply, the game has a lot of waiting, which is why it took me awhile to complete. I would get distracted while my ship is travelling to do other things until I forgot about the game.

The farming and crafting aspect are simple minigames, and at some point, I was hoping that there's some form of automation. I guess the point is to do these minigames to kill time while travelling but they are such a chore, at least to me.

The quest variety is simple too. Go to X, find Y, collect Z. Sometimes they even tell you to wait. There is no skipping time, by the way. You literally wait.

I understand that the crafting and minigames are meant to kill time, but I wonder if it has to be that way? It does make me think about the expotentially diminishing power of charming aesthetics over time. Aesthetics can be a powerful draw, but people do stay for the gameplay.

Kind of like life, huh?

Anyway, this game is a 7/10.
