I wanted to play this game because the SimCity games were always a little elusive from me. So I bought SimCity2k and 3k on GOG and decided to give 2k a shot first.
I did some research and it IS made in 1993, the same year The Settlers were created. I can't remember if The Settlers is actually a good game or not (I have fond memories as a kid), but it's worth nothing that city builder games aren't really a thing.
In the year of 2026 though, I can say that the game didn't really age that well? There doesn't seem to have much depth to the game. Once you figure out how to run a small sized area of your city, you pretty much do the same thing on another part of the map. It did take a while to figure out how things like power, water and tax work but once you figure it out, there's not much to do.
The RCI zoning seems interesting though. I'm eager to see where SimCity3000 takes this concept.
